What's with Weezy

It seems that there has been a lot of talk going on about one of hip-hop's gleaming icon, Lil' Wayne.

First, there is this shift with regards to his footwear. From sporting Supras (luckily, even having one of the 29 "Clandestine" Supra Vaiders courtesy of Pete Wentz), he now grabs kicks from The Hundreds. A total switch or an expansion?

And then there were the songs. With the success of "Tha Carter III" (despite its poor album design), Mr. Carter went back to his lab to do some experimenting, and came up with rock. With an arsenal of his own instruments, as well as a lot of collaborations, most especially with Fall Out Boy, he would release "Rebirth," his rock album sometime this summer. The first video "Prom Queen" already graced YouTube and the rest of the video channels on TV and on Internet.

However, "Prom Queen" was not able to share the success of the other previous Lil' Wayne hits, so it is projected that the album's release would be pushed back. With the Weezy on his Gibson guitar, I think it would be a success, but it would take time. "Rebirth" would have to do some heavy promotional work to gain acceptance and popularity. And for the crowd? C'mon, Weezy could do riffs well. Can't we just accept that he could?

Meanwhile, I wait for "Tha Carter IV," which will hit record bars late 2009.

Any thoughts on this?
